Huron County is an economic incubator for agricultural and food related business.  The County is the #1 vegetable producer in the State of Ohio and the #99 vegetable producing county in the United States. 

Food and agricultural processing and packaging plants have had large employment and revenue growth in the county over the past 10 years.

	Partnering with New Horizons Baking Company, The State of Ohio and Norwalk Economic Development Corporation, the Huron County Development Council assisted New Horizons in building and financing a rail spur and flour tubes to better serve their expanding production levels.
	Huron County’s high production muck fields are serviced by a recent newly expanded Ohio State University Muck Crop Research Station that provides valuable scientific laboratory and field level tests to the farmers in the area.
