Partnerships & Collaborations


The Huron County Development Council has established strong working relationships with local economic development organizations and community leaders.  HCDC Executive Director Carol Knapp serves on a number of local and regional boards, committees, and organizations to enhance our economic and workforce development efforts.  These partnerships and collaborations play a vital role in the succcess of our county and region.

TEAM NEO (NORTHEAST OHIO)
JOBSOHIO

Christine Nelson - Managing Director
Team NEO is the JobsOhio Northeast Economic Development Region.  The northeast region is comprised of 18 counties.  Carol represents Huron County at Team NEO monthly partner meetings.

NORWALK ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (NEDC)
Heather Horowitz - Executive Director
Heather and Carol meet monthly to share information and determine how they can work together for the betterment of Norwalk and Huron County. 
 
WILLARD AREA ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (WAEDC)
Donald Graham - President
Carol serves as an Ex-Officio member of the WAEDC Board of Directors.  The WAEDC Board meets every other month.  
 
CITY OF WILLARD
Jim Ludban - City Manager
The City of Willard has graciously provided office space in City Hall for HCDC to better serve the southern portion of the county.  Carol generally spends one day a week in Willard and meets with Jim to coordinate the economic development efforts for Willard.
 

VILLAGE OF NEW LONDON
John Martin - Mayor
Shawn Pickworth - Village Administrator
Carol works directly with John and Shawn on economic development opportunities in the Village of New London.  Most recently, the New London Community Reinvestment Area (CRA) was created with the entire village designated as a CRA.  HCDC assisted in negotiating New London's first CRA agreement with Firelands Electric Cooperative.  HCDC also assisted in preparation of a Transportation Improvement District (T-I-D) application which received funding. 

 
HURON COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
Melissa James - Director
HCDC is a member of the Huron County Chamber.  Carol and Melissa meet on a routine basis and have partnered to assist Western Reserve High School with manufacturing bus tours and a Career Fair. Melissa and Carol are also assisting the Plymouth Improvement Committee with their efforts to impact the business climate in the Village of Plymouth.

HCDC is a member of the Willard Chamber.

Carol, Abbey Bemis (Erie County Economic Development Corporation), & Elaine Colvin are the planning committee for the 2017 Future Makers Manufacturing Showcase Event.
